The races in the PCL AAAA and AAA are heating up, while the playoff brackets have been set for all of the rest of the teams in District 12. This week, the Pub begins playoffs in all four classes and the PCL begins in AA. By the end of Saturday night, the PCL AAA division will be set for playoffs. The PCL AAAA will need to wait until next week. This is a great time of the year, and with the added post season potential, it makes it even that much better.
District 12 Top Ten
1. St Joe Prep (1) 6-2 Last Week: Beat O'Hara 34-0Prep solidified their top ranking by winning convincingly over previously undefeated Cardinal O'Hara. The Hawks will have an easy week before wrapping up the regular season with a game against Roman.
Next Week: Monsignor Bonner
2. West Catholic (2) 7-1 Last Week: Beat McDevitt 62-7
This week, the Burrs open what could be an 8 week post season. Expect them to cruise through to the state quarter-final round.
Next Week: Kennedy-Kenrick (PCL AA Semi-final)
3. Father Judge (4) 5-3 Last Week: Beat Bonner 37-0
The Crusaders are on a roll now, with three straight division wins (4 overall). Their only divisional loss was a 4 point loss to Prep in week five. Their recent run has put them at the top of the AAAA division, with only O'Hara left to play.
Next Week: At Cardinal O'Hara
4. LaSalle (5) 5-2 Last Week: Idle
The Explorers didn't play last week, yet moved up a spot due to the drop of O'hara, but they can really use the rest as they'll have Roman and O'hara the last two weeks of the regular season to prove if they are truly back as one of the elite teams in the AAAA division
Next Week: At Roman
5. George Washington (6) 6-1 Last Week : Beat Central 35-6
Washington is just warming up for the Pub Final showdown with Frankford in the championship game. But, first they need to take care of business with the pesky University City team, which won the Blue Division crown.
Next Week: University City (Pub Quarter Final)
6. Frankford (7) 5-2 Last Week: Beat Overbrook 21-0
The Pioneers left no doubt that the only two teams who are worthy in the Pub AAAA class is Washington and Frankford. This week, the Pioneers will go through the motions and play Germantown in the first round of the Pub AAAA playoffs.
Next Week : Germantown
7. Cardinal O’Hara (3) 7-1 Last Week: Lost to St Joe Prep 34-0
O'Hara hasn't looked like themselves the past couple of weeks, and their drop in this poll is an indication that they are not headed in the right direction at the moment. The Lions have two tough games ahead of them in Judge and LaSalle. They'll need to bring their "A" game for both, with or without Corey Brown.
Next Week: Father Judge
8. Archbishop Wood (8) 6-2 Last Week: Beat Lansdale Catholic 31-0
The Vikings have, so far, shut out the rest of the PCL AAA division, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 117-0. If they show North Catholic this week that they are boss, it could be an easy ride to the state quarter finals. But, that's a big "if" for this week.
Next Week: Lansdale Catholic
9. Roman Catholic (10) 4-3 Last Week: Beat Ryan 47-7
The Cahillites need to play their best ball the next two weeks just to make it to the big dance. The defending PCL Red champs will have to beat two very good teams in LaSalle and Prep to to be considered for a playoff spot.
Next Week: LaSalle
10. Conwell-Egan (NR) 5-3 Last Week: Beat Northeast Catholic 27-21
The Eagles have quietly moved to near the head of the class and have all but secured 2nd place in the PCL AAA division. This is a team that doesn't rack up a ton of yards, but they certainly do put points on the board if given the chance.
Next Week: Archbishop Ryan
Just missing the cut: Bartram (6-1), Bok (8-0), Northeast Catholic (6-2), Northeast (3-4)
